In the process of teaching people the skills of becoming a lifecoach, I have observed that the most difficult thing for people to do is to learn to let go.

Everyone (well almost) is holding on tightly to the need for solutions, the need to fix, the need to find answers, the need to find the right question to ask, the need to find the right technique... and so on and so forth.

And they struggle with these needs, not just in coaching but in life in general. And they form beliefs that everything that is right in their life is because they struggled so much. They form beliefs that if they had not struggled, there would have been much more wrong in their life. They form beliefs that it is their struggles which make things better. And hence they see everything as a struggle. And thus everything becomes a struggle.

And the thing with which they struggle the most is to recognise and accept that life would have played out even if they had not struggled. They could have done the very same things without the perception of any struggle and life would still have turned out the same (well actually much better because the perception of struggle is gone).

And to let go of this struggle all they need to do is to let go of all these needs and just be.

Letting go is easy. Letting go makes everything else easy. Everyone who has experienced this "letting go" has experienced a tremendous liberation, a freedom that cannot be described in words.

And yet Letting go is the most difficult almost for everyone.

The highest form of coaching is when you the coach, are in a state of pure presence. It is a state where you have let go of all needs and submerge yourself in the totality of this moment and all that it presents. Once you experience this, there is no going back from here.

Letting go is a death. It is a death of the struggles. And Letting go is life. It is coming alive to this moment.

The most difficult. Till you experience it.

The most easy. Once you have experienced it.

So why this pic?
It doesn't matter how light the glass in the hand may be. It may be just an empty paper glass or even a plain sheet of paper. But if you keep your stretched out like that, your hand is going to hurt. And the longer you hold, the more it will hurt. All you have to do to release all this hurt and pain is to keep the glass down and lower your hand. That's what letting go is.
